For Dhs1200 you’ll get a unique family-family staycation including dinner and breakfast

Have you dreamed of sleeping beneath the canopies of a rainforest? Well, now you (sort of) can – and there’s no long-haul flying involved. Dubai’s only biodome, The Green Planet is now offering overnight rainforest camping experiences suitable for families.

The City Walk based indoor eco-system – which is home to 3,000 exotic plants and animals – is offering sleeps in tents and hammocks on Thursday and Friday nights. After check-in at 5pm, there’s a full itinerary of cool activities to do within the rainforest. The line-up includes an exclusive animal encounter, guided scavenger hunt, a nocturnal rainforest tour and a nature-themed film, with marshmallow roasting.

Included in the price guests will be served dinner in The Green Planet café before settling into their choice of a hammock or tent. The tents come in two sizes – the regular sleeping two and large sleeping 4 – with each camping set-up including comfortable bedding, fairy lights, hot drinks and lounge chairs.

During the night, the nocturnal creatures of The Green Planet will come to life, so you can expect to hear and see things that you haven’t during your daytime visit. But you needn’t worry about the things that go bump in the night, as a trained member of staff and security guard will be there to supervise.

And of course, as you’re not actually camping in the rainforest, you’ll have access to showers and restrooms – which is a win for those with a nervous camping disposition. Plus, once the morning descends you’ll be served breakfast in the cafe – but not before you help feed some of the animals theirs.

The cost of the experience is Dh700 for two people or Dh1,200 for groups of four. There are 6 tents in total with a total capacity of 18 people, so online booking is required.

There are social distancing precautions in place across The Green Planet and guests are required to have their temperatures scanned on entry and those over six must wear face masks.

Those on the hunt for family-friendly staycations should also check out JA The Resort and the newly reopened Park Hyatt which each have post-pandemic offers on currently.
