Kuda Villingili Resort has now opened in the Maldives, and it’s the ideal vacation spot for surfing enthusiasts
Another luxury hotel in the Maldives, newcomer Kuda Villingili Resort brings a welcome update with direct access to one of the world’s famed surfing spots.
Chickens – named so as the island it’s connected to was once known solely for its poultry – is located along the northern-most break in North Male Atoll, and is famed as one of the ‘liveliest lefts’ (meaning the waves that break to the left) in the Maldives. It’s considered the fastest wave in the area and ranks high within many top ten surfing location lists.
Having opened in June this year, the five-star Maldivian newcomer is already a hit with surfing enthusiasts thanks to its prime access.
As for the resort itself, it was designed by Singaporean-based interior design company URBNarc, and boasts 95 luxury villas, both overwater and along the beachside. Its interiors are built to reflect the island’s natural beauty and aura. As well as the traditional Maldivian art pieces and textiles used to style the resort, it also has eco-friendly furniture and fittings, including carpets made using recycled plastic bottles.
The resort houses one of the longest swimming pools in the Maldives, along with eight self-contained oceanfront spa villas and few stone baths. Other wellness activities include an elevated yoga pavilion, Technogym and a recreation centre with various indoor sports and karaoke. So there’s something for everyone, not just the surfers among us.
