Philipp Klein Herrero was due to go on a skiing trip until travel restrictions were put in place.

While many of us have been sitting at home griping over all the trips we’re missing out on as a result of COVID-19 restrictions, ski-enthusiast Philipp Klein has taken travel matters into his own hands.

The photographer and filmmaker was due to go on a ski trip just a few weeks ago, but the global pandemic brought his adventures to an abrupt halt. Rather than wallowing in self-pity, Klein decided that if he couldn’t go to the ski slopes then the ski slopes would come to him, and he documented the stay-at-home ski trip for his social media followers to see.

Taking to his YouTube channel to share the ‘Freeride at home’, Klein shared the thought process behind his video: “Just before the current health situation locked us in, I was about to go Freeriding with my family. It was supposed to be the big adventure of the year, the one I had been eagerly awaiting for a year. Therefore, the lockdown had me thinking about skiing the whole time, so I started to think how I could ski without leaving my living room.”

Speaking to his Instagram followers, Klein was keen to seek solace and share joy during these unprecedented times: “This is what happens when you force a skibum to stay home when I should be skiing! I made this video to cheer up a little and spread positivity during these times.”
