Take to exploring these locations on your doorstep that boastfully sit on the world’s most Instagrammed lists.
If your travel goals for 2020 didn’t quite pan out how you’d hoped, it’s safe to say you’re not the only one. Many cities and countries across the world are still restricting international travel and limiting movement between regions, meaning dreams of extravagant holidays to far-flung destinations have been put on hold.
For the lucky ones, this summer is dedicated to humble staycations and rediscovering treasures already on our doorstep. And for UAE dwellers living for the #travelgram, why not take this time to visit some of the world’s most Instagrammed destinations that exist right here in the UAE?
Saadiyat Beach Club
Located in Abu Dhabi, this beach haven has just been crowned 14th most Instagrammed beach club in the world. To date, the stunning location has been hashtagged over 18,000 times. And it’s no surprise considering the beautiful spot brings together natural beauty with modern luxury for a truly zen-inducing pool day.
So if you can’t quite make it to Bali this year – Potato Head Beach Club on the Indonesian island ranked at number one with 70,000 hashtags – then book in for a day at Saadiyat Beach Club from just Dhs250.
Naturally, the record-breaking skyscraper has proved a hit on social media. According to research undertaken by Sony, the Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai is the fifth most photographed landmark in the world – the Eiffel Tower, Ben Big, The Louvre and the Empire State Building coming in before it.
Considering its beauty from all angles – be it that iconic skyline shot from a distance or a snippet of its captivating light display from just outside – it’s not hard to see why. So why not make sure you come out of this summer with your own perfect shot of the Dubai landmark to fill your feed?
Holidays aren’t all about blissful beaches and historic landmarks; it’s the cute little spots that we fall in love (and spam our followers) with that we fondly look back on. And this Dubai tea spot ticks all those boxes.
Tania’s Teahouse was previously named one of the most Instagrammable cafes in the world – seventh, to be precise – by Big 7 Travel and it won’t take long for visitors to figure out why. Puns galore, baby pink hues and a gallery wall encasing a spiral staircase teamed with a fresh, healthy menu. And the dishes are equally as picture-worthy; check out the menu and more here.
Burj Al Arab
You don’t need Instagram to tell you that the Burj Al Arab is iconic, but in case you were wondering the pure-luxury destination serves as one of the most Instagrammed hotels in the world. Currently, the hashtag #burjalarab pulls up a staggering 1,917,360 results.
But making sure your post is included in that number doesn’t have to mean spending a night at the famously lavish hotel; visit the neighbouring beaches and resorts to capture the perfect image and be reminded exactly why the architectural marvel is so adored.
… Dubai itself!
It turns out, you may not even need to leave your house at all to seek out an Instagram hotspot. According to another study by Big 7 Travel, Dubai ranks third in a list of the world’s most Instagrammed cities.
With Sydney, Australia in first place and Hong Kong, China in second, the team at Big 7 Travel said of Dubai: “The high-flying city of the UAE, Dubai is one of the most glamorous destinations you’ll ever visit. Burj Khalifa, an 830m-tall tower, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline while traditional souks provide colourful photo opportunities.
“Your Insta feed will be full of rooftop lounges, luxury hotels and sunset sand buggying in the desert.” It looks like a UAE staycation isn’t so bad for the ‘gram after all.
