Opening its doors on April 5, 2021, the latest hotel to come to the UAE brings a sense of wunderkammer to the scene
With so much already on offer in the emirate, it’s hard to imagine what a new hotel can add to the scene here in Dubai. But as SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences opens its doors to guests in Dubai, we can see exactly how the newcomer intends on making its mark on the city.
The 75-storey hotel – making it one of Dubai’s tallest – greets guests with a vast stained glass window design reading ‘fortune favours the bold’; an indication of what you might find once you step further inside. The Accor-owned hotel group aim to create wunderkammer (a place where a collection of curiosities and rarities is exhibited) throughout. You’ll find playful art and design in every corner.
Interiors aside, SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences’ exterior location set it up for success, too. Located in Business Bay, it’s just three minutes car journey to Dubai Mall, five to Dubai Design District, and ten to DIFC. The city centre is right on your doorstep, and views span Dubai Creek as well as Burj Khalifa.
With 254 hotel rooms (residential rooms are on offer, too) that boast contemporary art, sleek furniture and stunning views, it makes for a great staycation and vacation spot alike.
And there’s plenty to do as well as see once you step inside. To see the city, head to Privilege on the 75th floor for nightlife vibes (and two incredible infinity pools) or S Bar on the 71st for floor-to-ceiling views.
When it comes to dining, 12 Chairs showcases the best of caviar to select guests, EllaMia is a sophisticated coffee spot, Fi’lia is the entirely female-run restaurant that celebrates food and identity, and Carna serves up steak by the award-winning Italian butcher, Dario Cecchini.
Chadi Farhat, Chief Operating Officer, sbe states, “We are happy to announce the official opening of SLS Dubai. We are excited to deliver culinary concepts like Fi’lia, our Italian concept, which will at this specific location focus on empowering the incredible leadership team of women, from our chefs to mixologists to managers. We truly believe that the property will be a highly sought-after destination for global travelers and locals alike”.
Signature spa, Ciel Spa, is also located within the new hotel, alongside a hair and nail salon and a fitness centre, so you can get everything you need from a relaxing and rejuvenating staycation in one space.
