Be among the first to stay at the all-new The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, and discover why it’s the latest hotspot for those seeking a restorative break away

Finding tranquility amid the mayhem of modern life can be more of a challenge than it sounds. But we know an Indian Ocean hideaway that has been designed especially to relax, refresh and rejuvenate. Indeed, if venturing into an underwater world of vibrant corals, tucking into nourishing food and being lulled to sleep by the sound of crashing waves sounds appealing, then a break at The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort could be just what you need to feel your best.

Located on a coral island in the Baa Atoll, a designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve site, the resortis inspired by the ocean that surrounds it – the island itself is shaped like a fish – and draws on natural materials, such as shell, throughout. It features 70 villas and suites (41 on island and 29 over the water, which are among the largest available in the Baa Atoll region),each with eco-friendly double roofing for natural ventilation and outdoor rainforest showers to help you feel immersed in nature.

Venture into the blue to discover the house reef brimming with colourful corals and you’ll quickly find yourself surrounded by shoalsof tropical fish. Reef sharks, lionfish, manta rays and whale sharks reside in the atoll while Miriandhoo is a turtle sanctuary, so it’s common to see them nesting in the sand. Set off on a snorkeling adventure or head to the in-resort PADI dive centre to arrange a scuba session. We recommend visiting the nearby is Hanifaru Bay, which is known for attracting the world’s largest gathering of manta rays.

The focus on wellness carries through to the food, with the resort’s speciality restaurant The Pearl serving refined Japanese cuisine; the highlight being seafood classics cooked to perfection with fresh local ingredients. Take your pick of Chinese, Indian or Maldivian cuisines at Island Kitchen, where you’re never out of options to indulge in. Hawker offers a delicious introduction to authentic Asian street food while talented mixologists can create you a bespoke drink at Sunset Bar to sip alongside a selection of tapas as you feast your eyes on the calming ocean views.

Be pampered at the spa or get a workout in at the fitness studio, which is open around-the-clock, while the little ones spend some time at the Westin Family Kids Club (for four- to 12-year-olds) where nature walks, family-style runs, and water activities will keep boredom at bay.

With its mindful approach to wellness, the mood-boosting effects of a holiday here are sure to linger long after you leave.
